Where are we located?

The Halton Catholic District School Board is located in the prestigious Halton Region, which is a regional Municipality of Ontario, Canada, and is located in Southern Ontario in the southwest part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Halton Region is comprised of the City of Burlington and the Town of Oakville, Town of Milton and the Town of Halton Hills, and is conveniently situated between Toronto (about 33 kms east) and Niagara Falls (about 72 kms west).

Preparing students for post-secondary success

International Students are thoroughly prepared for a successful post-secondary experience through our challenging programs and knowledgeable teaching and guidance staff. Students have access to guidance counselor advice, post-secondary application help, and campus tours of popular universities and colleges.

The HCDSB consistently achieves higher than the provincial average four-year and five-year secondary school graduation rates. For the 2020–21 school year, HCDSB students achieved impressive 90.5% four-year and 93.9% five-year graduation rates.

Becoming an International Student

Program Details

International Students have the option to choose if they want to enrol for a single semester, or for a full school year, which consists of two (2) semesters.

  • Semester 1 September – January
  • Semester 2 February – June

Successful secondary school graduates will receive an Ontario High School Diploma (OSSD) and will be provided with post-secondary guidance and application assistance before they graduate.

Assumption Catholic Secondary School

Located in Burlington, Assumption Catholic Secondary School was the first Catholic secondary school in Halton. The original school opened in 1977 and the current school was built in 1980 and received extensive interior and exterior renovations recently in 2020. Assumption CSS promotes academics and citizenship through the living of Christian values. Assumption CSS values the uniqueness of each person and is dedicated to lifelong learning, personal development and spiritual growth.

Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School

Located in Burlington, Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School opened in 1990. With Mary as a role model, Notre Dame CSS enshrines the tenet of human dignity in treating everyone as a reflection of God among us by encouraging respect and compassion to ensure students reach their full potential. Students have many opportunities to supplement their learning with attending extra-help sessions in subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science and Canadian and World Studies.

Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School

Located in Burlington, Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School opened in September of 2008. Corpus Christi is committed to providing a rich and varied curriculum and to offering a strong Catholic value based education for students. Corpus Christi is dedicated to instilling in students the desire to live the values of dignity, equity and respect. Corpus Christi focuses on student success, social and emotional well-being, a positive sense of belonging and academic achievement.

Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School

Located in Oakville, Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School opened in 2002. Holy Trinity CSS fosters a respectful and supportive Catholic environment that inspires all students to reach their full potential. Holy Trinity CSS offers students a comprehensive academic curriculum, an outstanding co-curricular program, and an important Catholic learning experience that will prepare them for their post-secondary goals.

St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School

Located in Oakville, St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School opened in 1982. St. Ignatius of Loyola CSS is committed to providing a varied and rich curriculum and to offering a strong Catholic foundation for students. St. Ignatius of Loyola CSS has continually met high standards and high academic achievement and has graduated over 10,000 students to advance to post-secondary programs at universities, colleges, apprenticeships, and the workplace.

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School

Located in Oakville, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School opened in 1990. St. Thomas Aquinas CSS is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, currently offering the Diploma Programme. IB World Schools share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that St. Thomas Aquinas CSS believes is important for our students academic and post-secondary school successes.

Bishop P. F. Reding Catholic Secondary School

Located in Milton, Bishop P. F. Reding Catholic Secondary School opened in 1986. Bishop Reding CSS offers a wide range of challenging courses that prepare students for the demands of post secondary studies at the university and college level. Bishop Reding CSS has seen its students excel in academics, the arts and athletics; with recent graduates being recipients of many prestigious scholarships including the Schulich Scholarship Award.

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School

Located in Milton, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School opened in 2013 and is our Board’s newest secondary school. St. Francis Xavier CSS features state-of-the-art facilities which set students up for success in various post secondary areas. St. Francis Xavier CSS offers a variety of experiential learning activities to provide real world experience within the core curriculum courses. St. Francis Xavier CSS strives to provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming school community.

St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary School

Located in Milton, St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Secondary School is currently under construction, with an anticipated opening date of September 2024. St. Kateri Tekakwitha CSS will consist of 72 modern classrooms and accommodate 1,500 students.

Although the school building itself has not finished construction, the St. Kateri Tekakwitha CSS school community has already been developing at a temporary school building location. Current St. Kateri Tekakwitha CSS students are enroled in challenging courses and are involved in sports and extra-curricular activities, like Soccer, Student Council, Culinary Club and Games Club.

The new school facility will offer the latest state-of-the-art learning technologies, including VEX Robotics, 3D printers, Resin printers and Laser cutters for use in Technology Design classes. St. Kateri Tekakwitha CSS has also been chosen to be a STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Music) Pilot School for our School Board.

Christ the King Catholic Secondary School

Located in Georgetown (Halton Hills), Christ the King Catholic Secondary School opened in September, 2002. Christ the King CSS values its Catholic learning environment that creates an excellent relationship with the community and its Family of Schools, student success, credit accumulation, literacy, numeracy, pathways for all and high graduation rates. Every student at Christ the King CSS is encouraged to work and learn to his or her maximum potential.
